CHAPTER 26: AARFY

Summary

On the weekly run to Parma, McWattÂ’s plane faces heavy fire. Yossarian is injured in the thigh. Aarfy is insensitive to YossarianÂ’s cries for help. McWatt gives over the controls to Nately, and dresses YossarianÂ’s wound.

The wounded Yossarian lands up in hospital where he meets Dunbar. Dunbar is busy playing a game called "pulling rank" and he asks Yossarian to join him. Yossarian and Dunbar go on chasing junior officers away from their hospital beds, and take their places. Ultimately, Nurse Cramer comes along and orders Yossarian back to bed; Nurse Duckett takes him by the ear and puts him back in bed.

Notes

Aarfy is shown to be insensitive both towards Nately and towards Yossarian. Yossarian and Dunbar continue playing their silly pranks at the hospital, but this time they have to deal with the stern Nurse Duckett.
