Minor characters

Solinus - Duke of Ephesus and guardian of Antipholus of Ephesus for twenty years. He has decreed a death sentence upon Egeon, but withdraws it, as the truth of Egeon's tale reveals itself to him, without the payment of a fine.

Angelo - a goldsmith, from whom Antipholus of Ephesus has arranged to buy a gold chain for his wife Adriana. However, Angelo mistakenly hands it over to Antipholus of Syracuse and the ensuing confusion results in an arrest.

Doctor Pinch - a schoolmaster who pretends to be a conjurer and one that can rid Antipholus of Ephesus of the devil that Adriana believes has possessed him. He thus cuffs and binds both Antipholus and Dromio of Ephesus and carries them away.

Courtesan - a resident within the Porcupine. She plays hostess to Antipholus of Ephesus and the merchant Balthasar, who proceed to her house for dinner after Antipholus of Ephesus has been locked out of his house.

Luce - maid to Adriana, who is later identified with Nell, a kitchen maid, who does not appear on stage. Critics believe that Shakespeare intended her to be the same as Nell and perhaps altered her name to avoid possible confusion with Luciana.

Apart from these, there are a host of other characters such as merchants, messengers, and jailers.
