Act V, Scene 3

Mistress Page, Mistress Ford, and Dr. Caius walk down the street leading to Windsor Park. Mrs. Page informs Dr. Caius that her daughter is dressed in green and that the moment he identifies her, he should run away with her.

Notes

Both Mrs. Page and her husband choose a mate for their daughter, never wondering for a minute whether Anne will approve the choices. Dr. Caius, who is prepared to elope with Anne, does not seem to care whether or not the girl loves him.

In spite of all the concern over Anne and her suitors, this sub- plot in the play is really secondary to the plot of Falstaff and his humiliation.
