Solution:     L. C. M. of 4 and 5 is 20

By multiplying each side by 20, we get

Transposing, 40 -20 = 8 x - 5 x

Solution:      Rewriting,

Transposing and - x to the left side and - 10 to the right side, we get

Solution:     Expressing decimals as vulgar fractions, we get

By multiplying both sides by 12, the L. C. M. of 2, 3, 4

we get 6 x + 4 x = 3 x + 84

10x = 3x + 84

Transposing, 10 x - 3 x = 84

7x = 84
