Example The cube of x varies directly as the square root of y. x = 1/3 when y = 1/9 Find y when x = 1.

Solution :

substituting x = 1/3 and y = 1/9 , we have

Inverse Variation : If the value of the variable x and y depends on each other in such a way that the product of their corresponding values is constant, then we say that there is inverse variation in x and y or x varies inversely as y. Using symbol, x µ 1/y.
