Act IV, Scene 6

Friar Peter meets Isabella and Mariana and takes them to a vantage point near the gate to meet the Duke. Isabella explains to Mariana what the Duke expects of them.

Notes

The climax of the play is foreshadowed in this scene and the audience's curiosity is now aroused. The Duke has planned it out in such a manner that it would seem to Angelo that Isabella has yielded to his demands and is now accusing him of having taken advantage of her.
