Nephrolepis (Common fern)

Nephrolepis is a common fern which grows in moist, cool and shaded places in forests, hills, etc. Nephrolepis exaltata is a common species.

Various stages in the life cycle of Nephrolepis are completed in two phases. Each phase is known as a generation. The sporophyte generation is the dominant phase while the gametophyte generation is an alternate phase.
