There exist a number of regional organizations that are formed on the basis of the similarity of interests or purposes between the member nations. They are based in particular regions and may be established for military, economic or political purposes. However the respective regions may not always be adjacent to each other. They are not formed to come in the way of the activities of other world organizations.
