Mao medals were distributed during the Cultural Revolution in China during the 70s.

From 1947 1949, there was a civil war in China, in which the Communist North under Mao, successfully fought against the Kuo-Min-Tang South under General Chiang who was miserably defeated. He escaped to Formosa and became the President of the remaining Nationalist China in March 1950.


Communist China was proclaimed the Peoples’ Republic of China on October 1, 1949. China drew up a new constitution which came into force on October 1, 1954. Mao became the President of the New Republic and Chou En Lai became the Prime Minister. Like Russia, China made great progress through her five-year plans.
