1870 - The Franco-Prussian War.

1879 - Germany enters into a Dual Alliance with Austria-Hungary.

1882 - Italy enters the Dual Alliance which now becomes the Triple Alliance.

1905 - The Russian Revolution lead to the establishment of Constitutional Monarchy in Russia.

1907 - Russia joins the Entente cordiale which becomes the Triple Entente.

1911 - Italy seized the Ottoman Provinces of Tripoli and Cyranaica which lead to the Balkan Wars.

1912-13 - Balkan War between Russia and France.

1914 - World War I starts in Europe

June 28, 1914 - Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife are murdered by a Serbian youth at Sarajevo.

July 20, 1914 - Austria declares war on Serbia.

Aug 1, 1914 - Germany declares war on Russia.

Aug 3, 1914 - Germany declares war on France

Aug 4, 1914 - Germany invades Belgium.

Britain goes in the defense of Belgium and declares war on Germany.

1915 - Italy and Rumania join the Allies.

1917 - The Russian Revolution.

USA declares war against Germany


1918 - The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed between Germany and Russia.

Germany surrendered and an armistice was signed.

1919 - The Paris Peace Conference.

The Versailles Peace Settlement.

The Treaty of St. Germain imposed on Austria.

The Treaty of Nevilly forced on Bulgaria.

1920 - The Treaty of Trianon imposed on Hungary.

The Treaty of Sevres forced on Turkey.
